Saltire Boxing and St Andrew's Sporting Club figurehead Colin Bellshaw is enjoying a sustained period of success with both the Saltire Promotions and St Andrew's Sporting Club shows in recent months. This success has attracted some of Scotland's excellent breed of amateurs to put pen to paper with Saltire Promotions as well as attracting established pro's to the Saltire stable. The St Andrew's Sporting Club takes place on April 28th at Glasgow's Raddison Blu Hotel which see's Mike Towell tops the bill after a destructive display in his last contest. 'Iron' Mike's last outing came at Paisley's Lagoon Centre in March on a night which saw the Undefeated Dundee Welterweight brutally dispatch Gateshead's Robert Dixon in two rounds in a fight that was an eliminator for Bradley Skeete's British title. "Mike Towell topped the bill on our last show Saltire Promotions at Paisley's Lagoon Centre. I was very happy with the show as Mike produced a great performance in the main event as well as some of our exciting prospects such as Steven Rae and our new signing Zane Marks were in action which saw them continue their development." Towell is joined on a show, which features guests Darren Barker, Glenn McCrory, Spencer Oliver and Johnny Nelson amongst other greats of British boxing, by highly rated Greenock Welterweight Sam Ball. Ball is undefeated in his opening four professional contests, picking up two knockouts along the way. Promoter Colin Bellshaw is very excited about the Greenock man's prospects and about the upcoming show on the 28th of April. "Sam is a quality operator and we are looking to move him quickly. He was an excellent amateur and represented Scotland on a lot of occasions so he has the pedigree to deliver title's as a professional. A Scottish title opportunity for Sam at the end of this year is not out of the question at all. He features on our 28th of April St Andrew's show and will be out once again before the summer." The St Andrew's Sporting Club is the most respected institute of Scottish boxing, having been in existence for 43 years and Bellshaw along with business partner Iain Wilson are committed to upholding the high standards that the St Andrew's Club has always adhered too. "The St Andrew's Sporting Club has been in existence for 43 years and has seen some of the best fighters this country has ever had boxing on its shows. Fighters such as Jim Watt, Ken Buchanan, Willie Limond, Scott Harrison, Paul Weir as well as many more have all boxed on a St Andrew's Show. Our aim is to continue to give our members the chance to see some of Scotland's best boxers in action and provide the best entertainment possible for many years to come." Membership information for the St Andrew's Sporting Club can be found on www.standrewssportingclub.com and you can book tickets for upcoming shows by calling 0141 810 5700.
